The knowledge and communication component of Disability KaR, managed by Healthlink Worldwide, is an important aspect of the programme. At the start of the programme a needs assessment was undertaken to inform the knowledge and communication component of the programme. The assessment sought information on the issues people would like to discuss with the programme and the different methods to do this.

The knowledge and communication component of the Disability KaR programme includes:

1. The development and promotion of the Disability KaR website to support the communication of disability knowledge and research from the programme.

2. The Disability KaR programme newsletter. The three editions of 'The KaReport' provided a forum for the sharing of learning from all aspects of the programme, including the policy project, competition projects, thematic research, electronic and face-to-face communications and resources. Read the latest edition of the KaReport >>

3. Three regionally based roundtables. These provide a forum for face-to-face interaction between a wide range of stakeholders from the North and South. Participants include members of Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs), government organisations, national and international non-governmental organisations, bi-lateral agencies and other organisations and institutions working in disability practice or in disability policy. Three roundtables were held; in Malawi, India and Cambodia and each event focused on a different area of disability and development. Find out more in the roundtable section >>
