The Programme Advisory Group (PAG) was set up to provide strategic direction and critical advice on policy issues associated with the Disability KaR Programme. Its purpose was also to oversee and maintain the quality and rigour of all the activities and outputs, as well as ensuring that the programme was at the cutting edge of policy development.

Seven individuals were appointed to the PAG; all shared the same aim of collectively and individually promoting the interests of the Disability KaR Programme and disabled people in the South. The PAG members came from a range of backgrounds and included disabled people and non-disabled people from both developing and developed countries, activists, technical advisors, academics, DFID staff and members of NGOs. See the right hand side of the page for a list of the PAG members.

The four main roles of the PAG are listed below:

  • Approval of the overall strategic direction of the programme, and of significant changes to its aims and objectives.
  • Assistance as required in reviewing management reports and peer review papers.
  • Ensuring that outputs reflect the needs of disabled people in developing countries and have the backing of disabled people.
  • Monitoring of programme implementation and provision of quality assurance.
